Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2025

Slam is serious about your privacy and about keeping your personal information confidential. We will not sell, rent, or otherwise give away your information without your consent. In general, we ask for and store as little personally identifiable information as possible to provide our service.

The Golden Rule of Privacy
Remember that anything you post online should be assumed to be seen by everyone. As a general rule when interacting with any internet service, you should not provide any personally identifiable information unless you are confident of both the identity of the receiver and the need for the information.

Personal Information

Slam does not require you to create an account or provide an email address to use the chat. The only information you provide is a display name of your choosing, which is publicly visible to other Users.

We do not control the content posted by Users in chat Applications operated by our Customers. If you are asked for personal information of any kind inside a chat, you should not provide it. If your privacy is violated or you are aware of abuse occurring, please contact the Customer operating that chat or contact Slam directly.

Cookies & Local Storage

Slam makes use of browser local storage to maintain state on your device. We do this for the following reasons:

The information stored this way is limited to what you provide (e.g. your chosen display name) or is anonymous by design (e.g. your device ID, which is a random token with no link to your real identity). We do not use cookies or local storage to track you for advertising purposes. If you clear your browser or app data, this information will be removed.

Messages & Content

Device ID

Slam assigns each device a randomly generated identifier stored in local storage. This ID is used to:

Your device ID is not linked to your real identity, email address, or location. You can reset it at any time by clearing your browser or app storage.

IP Addresses & Location

IP addresses are processed in the normal course of providing the service — any web request inherently involves your IP address being transmitted to the server. Slam uses IP address data for:

IP addresses can typically be used to geo-locate a device to the country or city level based on information published by your ISP. Slam does not collect your precise geographic location.

Passwords & Security

The Slam admin panel manages administrator accounts using industry-standard password hashing. Passwords are never stored in plaintext. You should always choose a strong password that you do not reuse across services.

Slam will never request that you supply your password via email or chat. We take reasonable precautions to protect account credentials; however, it is impossible to guarantee the security of any system.

Infrastructure & Third-Party Service Providers

Slam runs on self-hosted backend infrastructure on virtual private servers that we operate. Your messages, profile data, and uploaded files are stored on servers under our direct control — we do not delegate this data to third-party processors except as required by law or as described below.

The hosting provider that operates the physical servers may process your IP address and basic connection metadata as part of providing networking infrastructure. We have selected providers with reasonable data-protection practices.

Children's Privacy

The Slam Application is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a Slam Application, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Removal of Data

Slam will accommodate requests to remove personally identifying information from our systems. To place a request, please contact us through the official Slam website. Customers operating their own Slam Applications are similarly bound to honor such requests from their Users.

Changes to This Policy

Slam reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
